News: Black Works Studio Announces Tiger Series Cigars

Here’s some news from the folks at Black Works Studio/Black Label Trading Co.  I’m going to have to scrounge through the humidor to find something from BLTC to smoke tonight. I look forward to getting ahold of some of these cigars, I know there’s a BLTC event coming to Son’s in the next couple months, and I’m a sucker for fancy cigars.

Black Works Studio (BLK WKS) is pleased to announce the release of its Tiger Series; NEON TIGER, TIGER LILY and KHAN: Hand crafted in Esteli, Nicaragua at Fabrica Oveja Negra.

These will be available at select BLK WKS retailer events beginning this month.

“Given it’s the Year of the Tiger we wanted to release our Tiger Series in the US. These have previously only been available in Europe and as Factory Exclusives since 2017. These cigars will be released as event only boxes in very limited quantities. I wanted to offer something special for our retailers who support us with events,” said James Brown, creator of BLTC & BLK WKS and owner at Fabrica Oveja Negra.

All Saints Saint Francis Colorado and Black Label Intergalactic Cigars

As I’m preparing to head out to the TPE this week, I was rummaging around for something new to smoke and coming up with nuthin. sure I have a couple things I haven’t smoked before that are about two years old, but they hardly qualify as new. I have a lot of cigars I love to smoke, a lot of cigars that I’m just kinda holding on to for my retirement stash, but I need to sprinkle in some new stuff to write about, right? So I stopped by Son’s again, because they are close by, have a great selection of the newest releases, and take great care of me. A few weeks ago Mickey Pegg mentioned to me someplace that he had to get me his new Saint Francis Colorado, so I picked up a few of those in the toro size to sample. Of course, the original Saint Francis placed high on my pseudo-list of 2021, if I were to put a number to it it would be a solid number two. That doesn’t sound right, but I’m going with it, it’s something we all aspire to. The All Saints Saint Francis Colorado toro is a 6½” x  52, which isn’t uncommon for Toros made at Rocky Patel’s factory. This cigar has an Ecuador Habano wrapper, obviously not fermented to an oscuro like the original, and the Nicaraguan fillers were tweaked, so it’s a slightly different blend that the former. I thought it had a sweet cream flavor, and it was very good. Maybe milder than the Oscuro, which packs a punch, and perhaps better suited for earlier in the day, which is when I smoked it. While my palate prefers the Oscuro, it was still an excellent cigar which I would go to over a great many other cigars. I suppose I’ll see Mickey at the TPE and tell him what I think!

A couple weeks back I posted the press release about the Black Works Studio Intergalactic, so I picked up a couple of those in the Corona Larga size.  I love a Sumatra wrapper, and I enjoy the Black Works cigars generally. Seemed like a safe bet. To recap, this has a Dark Sumatra wrapper, Ecuador Habano binder and Nicaraguan fillers, and comes in the Corona Larga and Robusto sizes. I picked the Corona Larga on a whim, it looked good. This cigar had a great burn and draw. The flavors included some spice, sweetness and earth, all very nice. Another really good cigar from Black Works Studio. I don’t see BLTC on the exhibitor list for the TPE, they were there in 2020. I guess I won’t visit them there!

That’s about it for today, until the next time,

News: Black Works Studio Announces Intergalactic LE Cigar Release

Here’s some news from the folks at Black Label Trading Co.  I really am jumping the gun posting this from my phone because I’m anxious to test the new e-mail system 😁.  The cigar sounds tasty though, looking forward to trying a few!

Black Works Studio (BLK WKS)is pleased to announce the release of INTERGALACTIC; hand crafted at Fabrica OvejaNegra in Esteli, Nicaragua.

INTERGALACTIC is a new Limited Edition that will begin shipping to select BLK WKS retailers next week. It will also be available in Belgium and Germany later this month.

“Intergalactic is a unique cigar for Black Works Studio. I would consider it in a more traditional wheelhouse in terms of its overall profile with a definite Oveja Negra twist. The blend starts with bold spice followed by herbal and cedar notes. The finish is a balance of different layers. The spice and earthy notes of the Nicaragua filler tobaccos are gently brought together with the creamy, subtle sweetness of the dark Sumatra wrapper. This cigar is both bold and subtle all at the same time.” says James Brown, creator of BLTC and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra.

I may have posted about this when it was announced, but since we keep bees here at the CigarCraig compound, I think it’s pretty cool, so I’m passing this little news item along. I may have to pick one up, even though my storage is bursting at the seams…

Black Works Studio (BLK WKS) is now shipping the highly anticipated release. Hive is a collection of specialty cigars hand-made at Fabrica Oveja Negra in Esteli, Nicaragua. This was a small batch release offered on a first-come, first-serve basis to those retailers who attended PCA 2021.

The HIVE is a mix of some of my favorite Bee & Hornet samples that have yet to be released. For anyone that is a fan of the Killer Bee & Green Hornet, this is a must have!” says James Brown, creator of BLTC and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra.
