CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2015 Day 7: The Cigartist

By now you should know me well enough to know that I try to do things a little differently now and then, and today’s present is something very special.  Eric Whitfield, The Cigartist, is a talented artist and a cigar lover, and has merged these two passions to create amazing art. I’ve had the great fortune to have met Eric on a couple occasions and he’s a great guy, and he’s been commissioned to do paintings for many luminaries in the cigar industry. His work is pretty fantastic. Eric has provided one of his hand painted fifteen count travel humidors for Day 7. This is a work of art and I’m completely envious of the winner, no that I need another travel humidor, but for the beauty of it. I will have Eric’s art hanging on my wall one of these days. Retail Value on this piece is $150.

Now, this is kind of funny. the winner of the Joya de Nicaragua ashtray, cutter and cigars left the comment “Huge fan of LFD!”, and I was tempted to re-draw because sometimes I can be a wee bit cranky in the morning.  I let is slide, who isn’t a fan of LFD?  We can also be fans of JdN, right? Anyway, Andrew, please send me your address!  I’m sure in his excitement he got mixed up!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2015 Day 6: Joya de Nicaragua

Day 6, the halfway point of this craziness, features one of my favorite cigar companies, Joya de Nicaragua.  I’ve had the good fortune to have visited the factory in Esteli on two occasions and it’s a beautiful place with loads of history. They make some great cigars, and they make some cigars for other people that are among my favorites as well.  Several of my “go-to” cigars are made by the fine folks at JdN. Today we have a cool Selección Robusto, a six cigar sampler of robustos from their line, a great Joya de Nicaragua glass ashtray and a Joya de Nicaragua cutter.  Let me tell you about these cutters of you don’t know, they work very well! I have a similar version from 2009 that still works great, and people actually collect these. It’s yet another great gift this year, Many thanks to Juan Martinez and his crew at Joya de Nicaragua for providing this.

Tortuga Tuesday was a big hit, and for good reason.  The winner, chosen completely at random, and not because of his prose, is Mike Capuzzi! Mike wrote a nice limerick, and while creativity doesn’t play into the selection process, it sure Makes it fun for everyone!  Please send me your info so we can arrange to get these into your humidor!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2015 Day 5: Tortuga Tuesday!

It’s day five, and it’s Tuesday, so we’re just going to go ahead and call this Tortuga Tuesday!  Frequent readers will know that I have a deep affection for the Tortuga brand, and have since it’s inception. Victor Vitale goes to great lengths to produce the best cigars, and today we have an excellent representation of that quality. Today’s spectacular present is 20 of the Tortuga 215 Reserva Tributo, a box pressed, 6″ x 56 super premium cigar made in Honduras.  These are a Nicarguan puro, and are complex, refined and sublime. These are packaged in five-packs, not boxed (saving me shipping costs!), I can probably come up with a box if you really want one, but the box count is 27, so you’d just feel shorted :-).  It’s better this way, trust me!  Many thanks to Victor Vitale for providing these terrific smokes!

Monday’s winner of the terrific MBombay Cigars sampler is Jay Rabinowitz! Please send your address so I can pack this up and send it out to you.  Thanks again to Mel and Ron at Bombay Tobak for sponsoring yesterday’s contest! Someone asked in yesterday’s comments how you tell each line apart as they all have the same bands. I’ve asked this question myself which led to the line being marked on the back of the cello in marker, which is the case with these samples (as shown in the bottom picture).  I’m sure it’s something Mel and his team are looking at, bands are expensive, but they do serve the purpose of identification. The bands and presentation are quite beautiful!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2015 Day 4: MBombay Cigars

It’s day four already, it’s hard to believe. Today we have another great offering, this time from the folks at Bombay Tobak.  MBombay Cigars are made in the same factory in Costa Rica that makes the Atabey, Byron and Bandolero cigars that we saw here on Saturday. They come from Mel Shah, who owns Fame Cigar, Wine and Microbrew Beer Lounge in Palm Springs, CA. I’ve smoked a handful of the MBombay line and found them to be of the highest quality, and the Classic Connecticut might just be my favorite Connecticut cigar in the last year or so.  Mel and his staff have provided a six cigar sampler of some of their more special cigars. There’s a Classic Belicoso, a Corojo Oscuro Perfecto, a KeSara Solomon, a Habano Churchill, a Mora Toro and a KeSara Vintage Reserve Nikka.  I’m also going to include a $10 Amazon gift card courtesy of CigarCraig.com.

It was nice to see the outpouring of love for Fred Rewey and his Nomad cigars!  I really wanted to smoke the lancero last night, but I also wanted to save it for a time when I am back to the normal posting routine so I can give my opinion on it, and I only have one on hand at the moment. Instead I had a S-307 robusto which was awesome. Keep up the great work, Fred, and thank you again for providing yesterday’s gift!  I’m certain Gary Walston will also be thanking Fred, because he was the winner!  Gary, please send me your address so I can send the Nomad H-town Lanceros along to you!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2015 Day 3: Nomad Cigars

Today we have something very special for you from Fred Rewey at Nomad Cigar Co.  In addition to a Nomad T-shirt (Lg), a bottle opener/key ring, a rubber bracelet and some stickers, Fred sent along a box of his newest cigar, a new addition to Stogies World Class Cigars’ H-Town series, the H-town Lancero.  This is a box of 10 San Andrés wrapped 7″ x 38 cigars marking his first use of the Mexican wrapper leaf.  These are made at Tabacalera L&V in the Dominican Republic. In addition to the  San Andrés wrapper, they have a Dominican Habano binder and fillers from the DR and Nicaragua.  They only made 200 boxes of these, so this is a very special box indeed.  Many thanks to Fred for providing today’s gifts. Stogies also offers a coupon code, use CRAIG10 to get 10% off your first order.

Nomad H-town

I’m looking forward to smoking the Nomad H-town Lancero later today, and I enjoyed a Byron last night. I know Mike Perry is going to enjoy the Selected Tobacco sampler. I’ve known Mike for a long time, and I’m a little bummed that this is shipping direct from 2 Guys, as I would have slipped some of his favorite bubble bath in with the package! I guess you have to know Mike to know how hard I’m laughing at that…. anyway,  Mike, verify your shipping address with me so I can pass it on to David and his crew in New Hampshire.

Now is the Time to Contact
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan & Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

Since the Tobacco Control Act took effect, cigar patrons, retail tobacconists and manufacturers from across the premium cigar industry have been fighting in Washington, D.C. to preserve the simple enjoyment of a premium cigar – to protect that enjoyment from a threatening bureaucracy at the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

At this very moment, Congress is debating the federal budget, and regulations that can be addressed to prevent massive loss of jobs and the destruction of the cigar industry is a part of that debate.

The House of Representatives and the Senate needs to hear from you! Now is the time to add your voice to the fight to preserve premium cigars.

Please contact today, the Office of House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
and tell them Premium Cigars Must Be Exempt From FDA Regulation!

Please note, the lines may be busy, and voice mail box may be full, but please continue to reach out until your voice is heard!

If the FDA has their way, where will be no more giveaways like this!  Take a few minutes and make the calls!
