The La Sirena Aniversario Especial and a Few Other Cigars
Once again it was a week with a lot of news stories. I expect the next three will be the same as we come up to the IPCPR show. I will not be going once again this year. As much as I hate to miss two shows in a row, and it’s the first time since 2008 that I have, it just doesn’t make sense this year. Last year it was the lack of a job, this year it’s the presence of a job and the timing of the show plays into it a little bit. You’ll have to rely on the excellent coverage that many of my great friends in the cigar media present. As much news as there is that comes out, I am selective about what I post here. I think that personnel changes and international releases are less interesting to my readers so I skip over those and try to hand pick the news I think is of interest. There are enough other outlets that post every piece of cigar industry minutia that I don’t feel the need to duplicate. Anyway, I did smoke a few notable cigars this week, so let’s get on to those. La Palina, Tatuaje, Liga Privada and Something New from CigarProp!
Sorry, I’m short on planning this week, but fortunately the mailman left me something neat to talk about yesterday! But, before I get to that, I have a few cigars to talk about. I didn’t really get to anything new this week, while I had a mid-week “weekend”, consisting of two days off in a row, I busied myself with other things, and smoked some old favorites. Tuesday was election day, and between errands I smoked a Merlion Maduro toro and a La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel, both were really good, and cigars I enjoy frequently. It’s getting cold here, and today’s project will be to winterize the smoking porch and get the propane heater working, it wouldn’t light for me last night, much to my dismay! It was in the 30s and less than comfortable with only a little electric heater! Friday evening I had another favorite while I was a guest on the Cigar Hacks Podcast’s 52nd episode, a Cornelius and Anthony Señor Esugars Toro. They are an entertaining bunch originating out of the New England area, and it occurs to me that I listen to five or six podcasts from that area, I must enjoy hearing that accent or something. Event though they can be wicked hahd to undehstand sometimes, they are a funny bunch, I was honored that they invited me on. Continue reading

E.P. Carrillo Dusk, Kristoff Cameroon and La Flor Dominicana La Volcada Cigars
OK, all of these cigars have something in common…they are cigars, they have a band, they are, in fact, made in the Dominican Republic, but that’s not what I was going for in my current contest on Sunday’s post. I’m disappointed that everyone is just parroting the first response, even though it is technically correct, assuming it’s the answer I was looking for and not giving it any further thought. Don’t worry, I’ll be fair and just pick a random comment like I always do. I’m also a little disappointed that there have only been 15 entries, where there are well over 50 by now when I just ask for a comment. Would it help if I said there would be another 5 great cigars included in the prize? Guess what? There’s now 10 cigars in the pack, several of them will be from La Aurora (if that’s not a hint I don’t know what is!) So go back to the last post and enter the damn contest and try to win some great cigars out of my humidor! If it has anything to do with me being between jobs and giving my own cigars away, faggeddaboutit! I’ve got plenty to share!

Contest! Win Some La Sirena Cigars and a Stage V Clinger!
It’s contest time! I’ve scrounged around the humidor and put together a sampler of cigars from La Sirena Cigars. I’ve included a sampling of cigars from the line, among my favorites. Included in the sampler are a La Sirena Trident and King Poseidon made at the La Zona Factory, an aged La Sirena Dubloon Salomon made at the My Father Factory, a La Sirena Anchor Toro, which, admittedly, I don’t know much about. An Oceano Atlantic and Southern made at the Quesada Factory, and a Merlion Robusto, Merlion Maduro Toro and the exclusive Sea Lion, all made at the La Aurora factory. All well aged and maintained in my humidor for up to four years in some cases. Continue reading

IPCPR 2017: La Sirena Cigars
This is my last video from the IPCPR show, I had the opportunity to sit down for a few minutes with Mariah Ditkowich, the new face of La Sirena Cigars. What has been announced since the show is that Mariah’s sister, Arielle, who founded the brand in 2008 with Nestor Miranda and Miami Cigar and Company, along with her husband, Max, is expecting their first child later in the year. I’ve been a fan of the whole portfolio for a lot of years, from the original La Sirena made by Don Pepin Garcia, then by La Zona, the Merlion made by La Aurora, and the Oceano made by the Quesadas.
