CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 10: Villiger Cigars

Happy Saturday before Christmas!  I’m now officially on vacation, so maybe it’s time to get to the shopping malls. They won’t be busy or anything will they?  Yesterday’s present under the tree was a box of Casa Miranda Chapter Two Toros from Miami Cigar and Co. It’s my understanding that Barry Stein has a bad case of pneumonia and strep throat, a nasty combination.  My best wishes for a speedy recovery, it’s no fun to be sick over the holidays, I’ve been there my friends. The oracle of Random.org has declared Brian Impson the winner of the Casa Mirandas.  Please forward your details, but I would ask you and Jeff K to be a little patient with Barry, don’t get too upset if he doesn’t ship your boxes out promptly. Let’s see what Day 10 has in store for us:

It’s Day 10, and I’m pleased to present, for the third year in a row, a fine present from Villiger Cigars!  The winner of this present will get a box of Villiger La Capitana Toros, and an “Unreleased Sampler” which is, as the name suggests, unreleased and only available at events. The sampler contains the Villiger Talanga Selecto Corona and Lancero, as well as the Colorado Torpedo, Diadama and what appears to be a pigtailed robusto.. I can personally vouch for the first two, and from the Villiger Colorado’s I’ve smoked, I can only imagine that these three sizes will be excellent.  For what it’s worth, I also really liked the La Capitanas, they are excellent cigars, they are a Nicaraguan puro, made completely with Nicaraguan Habano tobaccos. These are very tasty cigars! Villiger may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of premium cigars, but it should be. They’ve been making cigars for 125 years, and their handmade cigars are exceptional.

My thanks, once again to Anne and everyone at Villiger for today’s outstanding presents!  You know what to do next!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 9: Miami Cigar and Co.

The 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways train keeps a’rollin today, it’s day 9 and there’s light at the end of the tunnel. You all know that these contests run just about 24 hours, so there’s just about no “too late”.  I close the comments right before I write the next day’s post, around 6:30am.  And Ted, as much as I’d love to see everyone win, just handling 12 Days is plenty. We’re getting well over 100 entries a day, four months of contests would leave me dead, divorced, jobless and insane, in that order.  I’ll have to ask that you be happy with 12 days right now!  On with the show!  The random number generator spit out the number 107, which is ironic I guess. It would have been awkward if that number had come up a day earlier. I arrived at the name Mike McDonald as the 107th comment. Congrats and send me your address so I can get this shipped to you. Thank you Courtney and Bill at La Palina Cigars for providing this wonderful box.  They promise a load of new projects next year, so stay tuned! The fun continues with another spectacular offering from our friends at Miami Cigar and Co.:

Day 9

Under the tree today is a box of Casa Miranda Chapter Two Toros from Miami Cigar and Co.  These cigars are made at the My Father Factory in Esteli, Nicaragua under the watchful supervision of Don Pepin Garcia.  The blend consists of filler tobaccos from Brazil, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua wrapped in dark Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper.  These Toros are 5½ x 54 and come 15 to a box. These look really good, I’m looking forward to smoking one one of these days (these ship direct from Miami Cigar and Co., so I won’t be able to pilfer any!)

Thanks again to Barry Stein at Miami Cigar and Company once again for providing this fine gift, and for his support over the years.  Good luck! Let the comments begin!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 8: La Palina Cigars

Good morning and welcome to Day 8.  Before I announce the Day 7 winner, let me address a few items.  First, Jason O asked in a comment if my daughter was named after the La Aurora brand, and the answer is no.  She predates may cigar fascination by a few years, however that first box purchase was definitely influenced by the name. The box may be around somewhere and  she may have it. <sarcasm>Second, kudos to Cigar Aficionado for naming a cigar that has been in manufacture for almost 80 years as the cigar of the year<\sarcasm>. Shouldn’t consistency be a criteria? Or availability? Sheesh. Anyway, you want to to know who won the La Aurora 107 Maduro Coronas, and that person is Jeff K! Please send me your address so I can pass it on to Señor Stein. Thanks to Miami Cigar and Co. and La Aurora for everything! Let’s get Thursday rolling!

Day 8

Today’s present comes to us courtesy of La Palina Cigars.  La Palina is owned by Bill Paley, and is the resurrection of his grandfather’s brand. Bill’s father, incidentally, is the founder of Columbia Broadcasting System.  The point is, Bill has some roots in the cigar business, and is making some darned tasty cigars. The winner of today’s present will receive a box of La Palina Classic Gordo.  The Gordo is a 6″ x 60 featuring a Brazilian Habano wrapper, Ecuador binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers.  These are always welcome in my humidors.

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 7: La Aurora Cigars

Mike,Mike,Mike,Mike,Mike …..what day is it? (sorry, Mike, you didn’t win this time) It’s Wednesday, Day 7 of CigarCraig’s 12 Days of Spectacular Giveaways, that’s what day it is! No cartons of Camels in the stocking today folks!  Yesterday we had a really nice bunch of stuff from the combined generosity of Flor de Gonzalez Cigars and Kings Cigars. The winner, Adrian Quick,  is going to be very well dressed and equipped, as well as having some really nice cigars in his humidor. Congrats to Adrian, please send your address so I can ship these goodies to you. Thanks very much to Yadi at FdG and Marlene at Kings for putting this together and sharing the day! And now on with the show!

Day 7

Today’s present comes from La Aurora. I’ve had an affinity for this brand as long as I’ve been smoking cigars since my daughter’s name is Aurora.  My first box of cigars back in the mid ’90s was a box of La Aurora Bristol Especiales.  I think it was $39.95!  Times have changed. One lucky reader will win this box of La Aurora 107 Maduro Coronas. The 107 Maduro is the same blend as the 107 that was released a few years ago only with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.  These were originally exclusive to Tobacco Association of America shops, but should be in wider distribution now.  All I know is that there’s a box up for grabs today! I can’t wait to try these, I keep hunting for them. They sure look delicious!

CigarCraig’s 12 Spectacular Days of Cigar Giveaways 2013 Day 6: Two-fer Tuesday! Flor de Gonzales and Kings Cigars

I can’t believe this thing’s almost half way over!  The response continues to be enormous.  I was looking at some numbers and this week alone will come close to the total number of visits I had the first year I was online with CigarCraig.com.  Amazing and humbling, thank you all for visiting, that’s one of the reasons I run this annual giveaway. For those interested, chekk12 did come through with his address and his Atabey sampler will be shipping his way today. Today I need John Hateley To kindly send me his address, as he is the winner of the Tortuga and Ora Vivo sampler from Victor Vitale at Legacy Brands! I smoked an Ora Vivo last night and these, along with the Tortuga 215 Reserva, are really very special cigars. I encourage you to give them a try!  On to today’s giveaway!

Day 6

I try to do one thing a little different every year, so this year I’ve decided to have a “Two-fer Tuesday”!  There’s a mess of stuff under the tree today!  First, from Flor de Gonzales we have a five-pack of their cigars, a T-shirt and a pen. I’ve long been a fan of the Flor de Gonzales line, and there’s one from each line represented here. The 90 Miles 1980 is particularly exceptional, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. They are all very flavorful and perfectly constructed cigars. Even their bundle line (not represented here) is a great cigar for around $2. My thanks to Yadi Vargas for providing this fine present.

FlordeGonzales

Our second gift comes from Kings Cigars.  We met the Kings folks at the IPCPR show last July and they were the life of the party.  Their cigars are darned good too.  In today’s gift bag is a couple Kings Cigars T-shirts, some hats, long matches, a nice stainless steel cutter, and a five pack sampler of their excellent cigars. I’ve smoked the King of Kings and the Conde and enjoyed them greatly! These guys are new to the market, but their cigars are three years in the making and they are doing it right. Thanks to Anwar, Pete and Marlene at Kings cigars for sending this gift bag!

Kings Cigars

There you have it.  A bunch of T-shirts, goodies and excellent cigars!  Thanks again to Flor de Gonzales and Kings Cigars for making Two-fer Tuesday possible! You know the next step, load up the comments!
