It’s been a slow week for me cigar-wise. I’ve been trying to kick this cold so that I can be in top form on Saturday when I’m going to spend the afternoon at JR’s in Whippany, NJ. In the mean time, I have some cigar thoughts I’d like to share.
First, regarding our latest contest , our winner finally came forward. After exchanging a few e-mails with Sebastian, he mentioned that, since he works in the cigar industry, sending the cigars wasn’t necessary. It’s for this reason that I’d like to award the prize to the runner up, Tim Scouten with a guess of 563. Tim, drop me a note so I can get these cigars to you! Thank you Sebastian for your enthusiasm and generosity! Thanks again to Drew Estate for providing some great stuff to give away!
In my correspondence with Sebastian, he brought to my attention the organization The Tali-Banned Cigar Aficionado Club, which is a cigar social club of US and coalition military, governmental agencies and contractors. I plan on getting some cigars together at some point to send to these guys in the near future. In addition to this outfit, there are plenty of others sending cigars to our troops that are in Iraq and Afghanistan. One that I know of is CIgar Pimps, which is administered by Slippery Rock Cigars in Slippery Rock, PA, with the support of Rob at the Blowin’ Smoke Podcast. Another is Operation Fom The Heart, who sends all kinds of stuff to the troops to make their lives more bearable. If you can spare a few cigars or dollars for any of these fine organizations it would give comfort to a lot of our folks who are in harm’s way.
As I mentioned at above, I’m heading to JR’s in Whippany Saturday around lunch time. If anyone is in the area please let me know so we can sit down and herf a few! JR’s is one of the great cigar shops on the planet, and their lounge is quite nice too.
Enough for now, until the next cigar,
